HOW
to OBTAIN a RUSSIAN VISA and Official LETTER of INVITATION
The required visa for this conference is a Russian
Business visa. An official "Letter of
Invitation" is also required for all visa applications
(i.e. you can not apply for a Russian visa unless this letter is
included with your visa application). These letters can only be
issued through the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in
St. Petersburg, Russia, and processing time is currently up 30 days.
The current MFA fee for this Letter of Invitation is:
$ 45. Expedited Letters of Invitation issued in
less than 30 days to US citizens are also available at
a higher expedited fee of $ 80. *
This Ministry fee must be paid in advance at the time of
submitting a formal request.
Once all information and the applicable MFA fee is received by CBI
a request for a letter can then be submitted to the MFA by HARMONY
Institute in St. Petersburg. When the letter is issued it will be
sent to you by Email or fax.
* If an original copy of the
letter is required by the local Russian embassy or consulate in
your country, this must be sent by DHL express mail. (Please
Note: there is an additional DHL mailing charge for this if
necessary). Currently hard copy is required in most countries, with
the exceptioin of the US.
Visa Registration: Once in Russia, the government
requires that your visa be registered within 72 hours (3 days) of
arrival. The MFA Registration fee for this is $65,
and HARMONY Institute assists with registering your visa on-site.
See "Site
and Trip information" page, "Visa Information"
section of the conference Registration Form, and Conference Orientation
Packet (sent after conference registration is received) for full
details and guidance on applying for both the Letter of Invitation
and the visa.
Due to Russian national holidays
occurring each May, all Russian government offices will be
closed for several days during part of the two weeks prior
to the conference. As a result, it is important to obtain your Letter
of Invitation and then submit your visa application in enough advance
time to ensure processing and receiving your Russian visa by the conference
date.
* NOTE:
The above official
Letter of Invitation must be processed and received by you
before you can apply for a Russian visa. Please allow for
adequate time to apply for and process both your invitation letter
and visa.
